Infrastructure to support homes and communities

  • Tweet
KB Station

We need new affordable homes in the right places with the infrastructure to support them. I continue to;

  • Urge Residents 4 Uttlesford (R4U) run Uttlesford District Council to progress a Local Plan, without it the district is being blighted by speculative development
  • Support the progress of the new Chelmsford Beaulieu station and the North East Chelmsford bypass
  • Welcome additional £121 million for Essex County Council for road repairs and resurfacing
  • Support Stansted airport as the largest employer in our constituency - a global hub, vital to our local economy
  • Back Government measures to tackle sewage discharges, also visiting local sewage treatment centres and holding sewage and water companies to account
  • Supporting residents and communities to save local pubs, like the Chequers in Roxwell and the Bluebell Inn in Hempstead
  • Organise a public meetings with water companies, like most recently with Affinity Water and Felsted residents regarding low water pressure
  • Supported the Government Levelling Up and Regeneration Act to help speed the planning system, hold developers to account and encourage more councils to put in place plans to build new homes with the infrastructure to support them

The new station is part of a wider regeneration of the Beaulieu Park estate in Chelmsford with new road infrastructure and up to 14

Why does Uttlesford still have no Local Plan?

The lack of a local plan for Uttlesford is causing continued piecemeal development without the infrastructure to support it.

Without a local plan there is no evidence of the long term housing strategy for the district making it harder to defend against speculative development.
