I stand for a stronger economy and stronger borders, two priorities that come up every time I speak to residents across North West Essex.

At the start of this month, at Conservative Party Conference, I set out how we will deliver both. Because only the Conservatives have the backbone to take the tough decisions our country needs. Others talk about change, we are the only party with the courage, the vision, and the plan to make it happen.

For a stronger economy, a future Conservative Government under my leadership will scrap Stamp Duty. Buying or selling a home should not come with a huge tax penalty. This change will help families move more easily, free up housing stock, and boost activity right across the economy, from builders and removal firms to local shops and small businesses.

That matters here in North West Essex, where many young families are struggling to get on the housing ladder and older residents want to downsize without being penalised. Removing Stamp Duty will make it easier for people to find the right home for their needs and help keep our towns and villages thriving.

We also unveiled our new Golden Rule for the economy: for every pound we save, half will go towards reducing the deficit and the rest towards tax cuts or investment to grow the economy. Thanks to the hard work of the Shadow Cabinet, we have already identified £47 billion in savings, £7 billion from overseas aid, £8 billion from cutting the civil service, and £23 billion from welfare. It’s the responsible approach Britain needs after years of waste and short-termism from Labour.

For stronger borders, we will take back control of immigration once and for all. That means leaving the European Convention on Human Rights, implementing our BORDERS plan, and removing the hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants who have no right to be here. People in North West Essex see the pressure that uncontrolled migration places on housing, GP surgeries, and local services, and they want fairness restored to the system.

We’ll also back Essex Police to focus on real crimes like burglary and theft, and restore accountability in our justice system so that the law once again protects the law-abiding.

Residents across North West Essex want fairness, security, and opportunity, not endless chaos at the border or higher taxes squeezing family budgets.

Every generation faces a test. Ours is to restore a strong economy, secure our borders, and rebuild Britain’s strength. Under my leadership, the Conservatives have changed. We are a strong, united team with the conviction to stand up for what’s right, protect our communities, and deliver a Britain that works for everyone.
