Yesterday's King’s Speech was a farce.
Almost 100 Labour MPs have called on Keir Starmer to quit.
His Cabinet is openly jostling to replace him.
And the Prime Minister himself looks ready to call it a day.
Even if he hangs around longer than any of us now expect, the programme outlined yesterday doesn’t come remotely close to doing what the country needs.
Instead, we were served up a series of terrible policies the Government had already announced.
Hounding our brave veterans through the courts. Digital ID, which nobody wants.
Continuing the nonsensical ban on new North Sea oil and gas licences. More EU, more meddling, and more burdens on business.
Nothing on cutting the benefits bill, no plan to fund our armed forces, and nothing on how to back the people who create jobs.
It was a reminder that Labour entered government without a plan, and they still haven’t worked out what they’re doing.
On Monday, the Conservatives published an Alternative King’s Speech — a serious programme for government that takes the tough decisions Starmer has avoided.
Cutting wasteful spending, funding Britain’s defence, securing our borders, and reducing the cost of energy.
Only by tackling these issues head on, with clear plans, can we get Britain working again.
