The Conservative Party is back. At our Party Conference this week, we set out our plans for stronger borders and a stronger economy. Real solutions on the economy, immigration, energy, housing, policing, justice & education. Here’s what we set out...
We are the party of fiscal responsibility again. We’ve introduced a new Golden Economic Rule: for every pound we make in savings, half or more go to cutting the deficit and the rest to tax cuts or investment in our priorities.
We will abolish Stamp Duty on your home – it’s a bad tax and unconservative. This will put rocket boosters into our housing market, unlock supply and help first-time buyers get on the housing ladder.
Our high streets are the heart of our communities. But because of weak decisions made by Labour, they’re under threat. So we will abolish business rates for retail, hospitality & leisure, supporting 250,000 small businesses across the country.
As part of Our Borders Plan, we will leave the ECHR and repeal the Human Rights Act in a responsible and carefully planned way. This will restore Britain’s sovereignty and finally allow us to secure our borders. We will be able to take full control of our asylum system, deport foreign criminals and illegal immigrants, and protect our veterans from vexatious claims.
Illegal immigrants arriving by small boats will be removed within days. They will go back to their home country, or a safe third country like Rwanda. But they won’t stay here! No claims. No loopholes.
We will launch a new Removals Force to speed up the deportation of foreign criminals and illegal immigrants. This dedicated unit will remove 150,000 people a year, restoring border control and delivering the order and fairness the British people expect.
We will recruit 10,000 more police officers, triple the use of stop and search, and deploy hotspot patrols in 2,000 high-crime areas to take back our streets and keep communities safe.
And we’ll make sure the police focus on real crime, not policing tweets or hurt feelings, by scrapping non-crime hate incidents. Recording these incidents wastes police time and undermines public trust. Our amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill will make it illegal, in almost all cases, to collect personal data where no crime has been committed. It’s time to restore common sense to policing.
We’ll double apprenticeship funding, giving young people practical routes into skilled work, and close down rip off degrees that leave young people with crippling loans and no real prospects. Young people in Britain deserve better opportunities and real choices. The Conservatives will deliver them.
We’ll make electricity cheaper again. Our plan will cut bills by £165 by scrapping Ed Miliband’s damaging Net Zero policies, including the Carbon Tax and costly wind farm subsidies. The next Conservative Government will prioritise British energy security and growth, not ideology. This is a plan to put money back in people’s pockets and support business.
And there’s more:
- We will cut red tape, protect food security, and support rural jobs. We will put food production back at the heart of policymaking and back our countryside.
- We will cut red tape at HMRC and review the IR35 rules to back Britain’s self-employed and small businesses.
- We will abolish the Sentencing Council and put sentencing back in the hands of Ministers.
- We will rewrite the London Plan to unlock new homes in inner London, protect the Green Belt, and give young families the chance to buy. London will be a city that builds opportunity.
- We will protect Northern Ireland veterans from vexatious claims, ensuring they are treated with the respect they deserve.
Under my leadership, the Conservatives have changed. We are a strong, united team with a plan to secure our borders, grow our economy, and put power back in the hands of hardworking people. We are the only party with the vision, courage, and competence to restore opportunity, protect our communities, and deliver a Britain that works for everyone. Join us. Stand with us. Let’s build a stronger Britain together.
