Local MP for North West Essex and Leader of the Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has pledged that the next Conservative Government will deploy 10,000 more police officers.
Under the Conservatives’ Take Back Our Streets plan, Essex Police would receive 303 additional police officers, helping to tackle anti-social behaviour and rural crime across Chelmsford and Uttlesford. The Conservatives will also slash police bureaucracy, freeing up seven million hours of police time each year.
The Conservatives’ plan would give the police stronger powers to tackle the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters, increasing the penalty to a £300 fine and six penalty points for anyone caught using them illegally on pavements.
‘Immediate Justice’ community sentences will be introduced and issued by the police. Perpetrators caught committing lower-level offences will be required to clean up graffiti and help maintain our streets and parks.
