My Plan for the Saffron Walden constituency

  • Keeping our communities safe

Since 2019, we have an additional 345 officers across Essex, with more to come. I will continue to work with our local policing teams to tackle rural crime, anti-social behaviour and improve police visibility in our towns and villages

  • Increased school funding

I want to ensure all young people in Chelmsford and Uttlesford can attend excellent schools and get the support they need to fulfil their potential. I have recently supported an increase in per pupil funding and the Lifetime Skills Guarantee setting out a blueprint for post-16 education.

  • Infrastructure to Support Homes and Communities

I am committed to ensuring new affordable homes are built in the right places and they have infrastructure to support them. I will push for our local councils to have an up-to-date Local Plan to prevent speculative development.

  • Better broadband for rural areas

Boosting broadband connectivity is vital to level up our communities and businesses. I will continue to work with Superfast Essex, local providers and the Government to rollout a decent broadband service for us all.

  • Standing up for local farmers

At the heart of the constituency is our farming community. I have supported legislation to deter hare coursing and worked with Essex Police to implement local initiatives and will continue to host roundtables to discuss the impact of Government policy on the farming community.
